Bible Now Available in Chongthu Language

SOS Hawaii has been supporting Pastor Athang Touthang and his wife Miriam’s ministry in Manipur India for the last four years. Pastor Athang Touthang and Miriam have a sincere heart for the people of this area. Mission funding had been used to buy building materials for a school building, school materials and teachers’ wages.

The Christian Academy in Manipur India. Second floor is under construction.

The academy has about 700 enrolled students. Pastor Athang established Hope Chapel Church within the academy for the youth to attend. They use three different language services to reach the local youths.

One of the languages is Chongthu. Despite having a church fellowship with many members, the Chongthu people in Northeast India has not had Bible in their own language until now. They had to rely on a cousin language (Thadou) version of the Bible. God had given Athang a burden and desire to end the Chongthu Bible poverty by providing the people their own Chongthu Bible. He began the dream of the translation project in 2012. By God’s grace, staff helpers/writers to help him on this project were provided. They have completed this project this year and SOS Hawaii has the honor to be used by the Lord to print and distribute the first Chongthu Bibles by March 2020. The Chongthu people will be able to teach, preach, and study in their own language.

Praise God for using a humble church in central Oahu to place Bibles in the hands of tribe people in Manipur India!
